In November 2008 Bucher Hydraulics Remscheid GmbH was awarded its ECOPROFIT® certificate issued by the Ecological Project for Integrated Environmental Technology organisation. This plant also buys certified EWR eco power from Remscheid’s energy and water providers EWR.
The hydraulic valve systems produced with the greatest possible precision are indispensable for controlling machinery such as giant mobile cranes, tunnel boring machines, concrete pumps, augers or even fire brigade engines equipped with turntable ladders. Bucher Hydraulics takes environmental protection just as seriously as it does when producing its high-precision aluminium or cast metal valve blocks for its many customers around the world. An example of this was when the production halls’ heat insulation was significantly improved in 2007. Then in 2008 the green light was given to take part in ECOPROFIT®.
First of all new waste management procedures were developed and implemented: Whether castings, aluminium, metals, plastics or the large amounts of cutting oil required – all its production materials have been neatly sorted and collected since the system’s introduction about a year ago. Previously considerable quantities of mixed scrap used to be collected by expensive waste disposal contractors at short intervals. Nowadays most waste materials flow back into the production cycle. This has become especially noticeable with the quantities of cutting oil recycled by a centrifuge.
Our Success: Thanks to new mirror reflector bulbs in the production and assembly halls and the consistent installation of other power-saving lamps the Lennep company has been able to reduce its energy consumption significantly. This new lighting technology relieves the environment of 147 tons of CO2 every year.
