Lift Demonstration Trailer:
Practical training right outside the customer’s front door

Bucher Hydraulics offers its customers located in larger German towns an opportunity to participate in training courses. Thanks to the recently completed mobile training stall the course participants can adjust with the valves themselves.

Customer Survey
As the name suggests Bucher Hydraulics Elevator Division’s customers are involved with lift construction and install hydraulic elevators. Drives and valves for this purpose are supplied by Bucher Hydraulics. An in-depth customer survey revealed in particular that the role of service technicians is of increasing significance: In addition to their usual work, i.e. maintenance, repairs and trouble-shooting, service technicians will in  future be entrusted more intensively with tasks linked to customer retention and sales. This means that everyone involved is likely to be confronted with escalating technical and selling challenges. The image of an elevator installation company as perceived by the final customer is cultivated by its service staff’s confident and self-assured manner on the spot.

Training Concept
Bucher Hydraulics closely analysed these findings and came up with a new training concept which reflects this development. Its customers and partners are now selectively supported by Bucher Hydraulics’ specialised product and application know-how in the field of hydraulic elevators. Thanks to this facility Bucher Hydraulics’ customers are better equipped to deal with the current slump and perform more successfully. At a time when many talk of a crisis Bucher Hydraulics has spared no expense or effort to ensure that its customers and partners have an opportunity to suit their action to the word modernisation!

Training Programme
A brochure dealing specifically with training programmes provides a mine of information on objectives, contents, target-groups, number of participants possible, course locations and dates. You will find this brochure on our homepage www.bucherhydraulics.com (click on Elevator Hydraulics) and you can register for courses online by filling in the respective form.

Apart from the sales promotion course No. 100 "The Advantages of Hydraulic Elevator Technology" and No. 200 "Improving the Performance of a Hydraulic Elevator Unit", both of which are aimed primarily at designers, conversion planners, salesmen and modernisation specialists, there are one-day training courses for "Electronically controlled valves" (course No. 400), "VF frequency controlled drives with and without hydraulic counterweights" (course No. 400) and "How to install, service and repair elevator cylinders correctly" (course No. 500). These courses cover the following theoretical and practical topics:

  • Mechanical and electrical operations
  • Comparisons between the various hydraulic drive systems

  • Basic settings with the various operating terminals

  • Advice and tricks for settings

  • Maintenance and service directions

  • Installation and commissioning instructions

  • Modernisation advice

Mobile Demonstration Trailer
The striking idea of giving customers practical training on their own premises was put into action by a mobile demonstration unit which was developed specifically for this purpose.

Putting theoretical knowledge into practice has been made possible by a mobile demonstration trailer developed specifically for this purpose. In addition to various exhibits such as valves, power units and cylinders the real heart of the training trailer is its assembled elevator simulator. With the help of this "elevator" course participants can actively learn how to adjust settings correctly and how to remedy malfunctions as quickly as possible. Participants are given a live demonstration of the negative effects incorrect settings can have on heat build-up or how to conserve energy in a purposeful manner. Participants are also instructed on how to service and/or test products properly with the help of original products and cut-away models.

Another significant plus factor provided by these training courses are the small group sizes of eight people at the most. The course trainer is thus able to help each participant individually and to intervene when necessary. All course documentation is adapted to the respective participant target group and can be used for the practical part of the course as well. It is this personal touch that most participants refer to so positively in their course feedbacks.

Benefits
Never before has a training course been able to demonstrate the incredible benefits of VF frequency controlled hydraulic systems (Saturn Alpha and Orion Alpha) in such a vivid way, nor how Bucher Hydraulics has built up and developed this system over a period of 14 years to make it the most modern hydraulic drive on the market. Discerning customers have been using this system for years as it is quite unique with respect to travel comfort, heat control and energy efficiency. These systems are already frequently specified for applications in busy places such as hospitals, exhibition halls, airports and railway stations.
