A System For Agricultural
Technology:
Electronic Control Units

Electronic control units that can be programmed
and used in a very adaptable way - perfectly
matched to our hydraulics.

For fast operation, the simple version of the electronics box
has an on/off switch and a rotary potentiometer for proportional
current control.

Complete solutions from one source - exactly what many users in the agricultural technology sector are looking for. Bucher Hydraulics offers a persuasive total package for towed machines, consisting of innovative electronic control units featuring a new design, together with the hydraulics, sensors, and software. All components are functionally optimized to work together and can be assembled to meet specific customer requirements. A prime example of this is the application in manure spreaders.

Efficiency, energy savings, and precision are becoming increasingly more important in agricultural engineering, just as in many other areas. Today‘s towed machines must apply a defined quantity of spread material per unit area, and the application process must be documented. At the same time, working on farms requires that all components, especially the electronic ones, are very robust.

Based on extensive off-road experience with applications in the areas of farming & forestry engineering and winter road management, Bucher Hydraulics has developed electronic control units for agricultural technology and now offers modern designs and premium-quality models featuring protection class IP65 (DIN 40050). The EBT series of control units is available in four versions with different dimensions and analog or digital technology. The individual features are optimized for particular applications.

A well as the basic version, Bucher Hydraulics supplies the
electronics box in three other versions with analog or digital
technology.

The tried and tested ELSK106-02 model retains its field-proven Makrolon polycarbonate housing and is suitable for simple control requirements. It uses an on/off switch and rotary potentiometer for proportional current control. The robust, compact box has a deliberately straightforward design with no expansion facilities and is easy to mount.

Two other analog models have an on/off switch and a rotary potentiometer. They can also be equipped with additional functions such as a controlled-current output and an hour-meter to record the hours worked. With these versions in the EBT series, the housing is made of aluminum with an impact-resistant plastic cover and is therefore resistant to large mechanical stresses.

As an example of a high-end product, Bucher Hydraulics presents the digital version of the control panel. This has a membrane keyboard and graphics display. After discussion with Bucher Hydraulics, users can design the membrane and populate the unit to suit their requirements, and thus match it exactly to the design of their machine or vehicle. Technically, the control units are impressive thanks to their superior functionality and flexibility, which result from customer-specific programming. This is based on software, also developed by Bucher Hydraulics, which can easily be adapted to particular customer requirements.

An optimally matched system saves time and money

The individual keys can have various functions assigned to them. Using the graphics display, the operator selects the appropriate menu for the job. When working in the field, the graphical display provides a quick overview. The operator can easily read key facts such as speed, application rate and RPM at any time. Another factor that makes the work easier is the size and backlighting of the keys. In keeping with the rough use that these devices experience, the keys are printed on their back face and are thus wear-free.

Manure spreaders, for example, take advantage of this overall electronic concept by including automatic weighing. Bucher sensors determine the weight, and the software automatically captures and stores all data for the application of the manure on the field. Bucher Hydraulics is a global market leader in electronics for winter road management, and now takes another step forward. The software for the EBT electronics box includes an interface for downloading the data into a GPS. Via the GPS, users can therefore send information on the area processed and the application rate to a central computer, where it can be documented.

The comprehensive system – hydraulics, sensors, electronics, cabling and software from one manufacturer – offers users a number of advantages. All components are precision-matched to each other, and the warranty for the complete system lies with just one supplier. With one key partner, the customer can discuss adaptations for his particular requirements and choose the appropriate device from solutions ranging from standard to high-end. The molded wiring harnesses, including solenoid connectors with LEDs for functional checks, offer high levels of safety. Retrofit requests for system expansions are easy to respond to - suitable M12 plugs are already molded into the harnesses.

Because Bucher Hydraulics also designs and manufactures the specific functions of towed machines, such as steering, suspension, auxiliary functions and proportional valves, users can be assured that any changes they request will be immediately considered for all other system components. This ensures the best possible results in operation, and saves time and money during installation and maintenance. At this stage, Bucher Hydraulics helps users to achieve optimum operation of the system and provides local support.
